Reedie Racer Rules

1.) The Cox .049 "Reed" type of engine is the only engine allowed. This includes, the Baby Bee, Black Widow, Golden Bee, Venum, Killer Bee, Sure Starts, Product engines, etc. Basically the Cox .049 that uses the reed valve, rear intake type of induction. No pressure is allowed and all external fuel tanks must be vented to atmosphere. Any nitro fuel is allowed. Any propeller is allowed as long as it is of safe construction. TD cylinders and Galbraith and Turbo heads are allowed.

2.) The aircraft can be of any size or configuration as long as the pilot can demonstrate safe and stable flying characteristics of the said model.

3.) It is recommended that the non-park flyer type radio is used. This suggest the single conversion receivers which may be prone to interference not be used.

4.) The race course should be 2 poles/pylons spaced approximately 200 feet apart, safely positioned at minimum 75 feet from the pit area.

5.) Pilots with their counter/caller will stand in a designated area, preferably between the 2 poles/pylons approximately 75 feet away from the center line between the poles. Flying will be at a counter clockwise course with a left turn preceding each pole/pylon. All pilots must have a caller/counter with them during the race.

6.) The contest director will give either a pre-determined 15 or 30 second warning for pilots to crank and tune engines. Upon 0 time all Pilots/launchers may launch toward the pylon on the right hand side of the field (pylon 1) as long as it can be done safely. A lap is counted when a complete circuit is made back to pylon 1.

7.) Unless a pole judge is appointed it will be up the pilot and/or caller/counter to notify of a pylon cut whereas the pilot must circle back to the pole/pylon, correct his pattern in order to be eligible to retain his/her lap count. It is not necessary to button hole the pylon as long as the model is past the pole/pylon before turning.

8.) It is suggested that there be a 4 aircraft limit per heat. Points will be awarded as follows:

1st place  4 points

2nd place 3 points

3rd place 2 points

4th place 1 point

Unable to finish Race 0 points

9.) There should always be a minimum of two heats with a mixed matrix of the pilots so we avoid racing the same guys every time.
